Txotxfest 2016 was Black Twig Cider House's inaugural Cider Festival!

Hard Cider is made all over the world. It is our hope to showcase our local cidermakers and restaurants, as well as to offer you an opportunity to taste cider from all over the country and world.
Black Twig Cider House & Mattie B's Public House with the help of spectacular vendors, chefs, and culinary artisans are making Txotxfest 2016 one for the books! Hold on to your txotx, and basque in the camaraderie of this day all while raising money and awareness for The Inspire Media Network. The Inspire Media Network’s mission is to make smiles and inspire life! 

Joining us for our premier Txotxfest are the two top cider houses on the East Coast:  Anxo from Washington DC & Wassail from NYC. 

Wassail is a cider focused restaurant and bar in Manhattan’s Lower East side and the first of its kind in NYC.

ANXO aims to reinvigorate interest in traditional cider, one of the Mid-Atlantic’s oldest and most historically important products. 

Triangle restaurants include Bona Fide Sandwich Co.Durham Catering Co.MateoOval Park GrillePicnicRise, & many more.


Cider Producers

Friday, September 9th, 2016 we organized a small cider pairing dinner for some of our out of town friends. We had chefs from ANXO in Washington DC, Wassail in NYC, Black Twig Cider House, and Mateo Tapas pairing dishes with amazing cider from Stem Ciders in Denver, Eden Ciders in VT, Citizen Cider from VT, and DeMaison Selections importing some of the finest Spanish and French Basque Ciders. 
The 5 course dinner began at 7pm at Mateo Bar de Tapas. Here is the line-up of chefs and cider producers:

1st course:  Black Twig & Citizen Cider
                   Tortilla de Camerones, Seared Pork Loin, Sweet Corn Bisque with Citizen Cider Brose
2nd course:  Anxo & Eden Cider
                   Honey and Calvados Roasted Quail, roasted artichokes, crispy Jamon serrano with Cinderellas Slippers Cider
3rd course:  Wassail & Stem Ciders
                   Piquillo con Brandada  (Brandade stuffed piquillo peppers) with Crabby Neighbor Cider
4th Course:  Mateo & DeMaison Selections
                   Txuleton-Bone in Ribeye with Domaine Bordatto Txala Parta
