Cider Classes

We are doing a second round of cider classes. For these two classes Mattie will be working with Ali Morgan, a Certified Cheese Professional. Ali has not only a passion for cheese, but for pairing them with other types of foods and different styles of beverages! Hailing from Texas with almost 7 years of cheese experience, she moved to the triangle to learn how to make farmstead cheese and is now spending her time teaching cheese classes and getting people excited about all that cheese has to offer! Classes will be offered on February 18th at 4pm & March 11th at 3pm. Special Guests, Ted Domville of Elodie Farms will be joining us on February 18th to tell you about his farm and cheese and Alexander Kast will join us on March 11th to tell us about his new project KastHuis. There will 5 cheeses and 4 cider tastings. We will talk about the cheeses and cider individually and then why we decided to pair them together. The class will last about an hour. February Sausage COmpetition - February, 2017

For the month of February, submit your favorite “Build-Your-Own” sausage combination and be entered into the Featured Sausage contest for the month of March! Have a sausage combo that you’re crazy about? One that is so delicious you just can’t stop thinking about it? Submit it to us during the month of February and you could be famous! Winning sandwiches will be selected by Black Twig staff and showcased as a Featured Sausage for the whole month of March! Winners will be selected for both meat and non-meat categories. Durham Food and Beer Experience - March 12, 2017

DPAC is partnering again with Tyler's Restaurant & Taproom and Sam's Quik Shop to host the 5th annual Bull City Food & Beer Experience on Sunday, March 12, 2017. The event features the Harris Onstage Experience showcasing additional brewery and local food vendors, unlimited samplings and three floors of food & beverage options, so make sure you visit each level of DPAC's lobbies for the full experience.

One Year Anniversary Party - April 1, 2017

Taste the Event - april 21, 2017 6:00-9:00pm

Mattie Beason spent four days in Portland helping to teach the first ever Cider Certification class in Portland, Oregon this past February. He will bring that knowledge to you in a 60 minute session where he will speak about the history of cider and apples as well as the four major regions of cider production and the differences as they pertain to the different types of cider. The Ultimate Gluten Free Dinner

Primal Food & Spirits, Durham•  We are excited to announce our first ever gluten-free event! Join us for a three course served dinner by one of Durham’s most talented and charming chefs, Tim Lyons of Primal and Blu Seafood. Tim has put together a creative and flavorful gluten-free menu which will be paired with various ciders curated by Mattie Beason of Black Twig Cider House. Did you know that cider is naturally gluten-free and a delicious alternative to wine? To finish off the evening, you will enjoy a wonderful dessert prepared by Joe Parker of JP’s Pastry, the Carolinas most renowned gluten-free pastry chef. Black Twig Cider House, Mattie B's Public House, Robert Brown Immigration Law, Haw River Wine Man, & The Rickhouse are partnering to carry on the torch of Txakolifest! With the help of spectacular vendors, chefs and culinary artisans we are making this year’s Txakolifest one for the books! Hold on to your porron, and basque in the camaraderie of this day all while raising money and awareness for The Immigration Legal Defense Fund.
