Black Twig Cider House is thrilled to announce yet another exciting Cider Dinner, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 7pm. The multi-course dinner one will feature sumptuous cider from Original Sin Hard Cider and stellar local pasture-raised meat from Firsthand Foods! Listen to Gidon Coll from Original Sin speak about the history of apples and cider, and Jennifer Curtis from Firsthand Foods talk about their tasty, local, sustainable meat and the remarkable farmers who provide it!

Also we're offering a very special tasting of all four of Eric's Ciders guided by mister Bordelet himself. The tasting will begin at 5pm and will last no more than an hour. The cost is $30 and includes taste of four of Eric's Ciders.
Why do we love Eric Bordelet so much?
There are many reasons to love Eric Bordelet and his ciders. In a previous life, Mr. Bordelet was a sommelier at Alain Passard's Arpege Restaurant in Paris. Opting for a change of pace, he moved to Normandy and took over his family orchard. Steeped in the traditions of wine, he grows more than 20 varieties of apple and 15 varieties of pear. While it is not uncommon to blend various varietals of apples and/or pears in a single cider, Mr. Bordelet certainly takes this approach to extremes.
What all of this means is that Mr. Bordelet is making the kind of nuanced and complex ciders of character that will convert even the most entrenched wine drinker or beer aficionado. Ciders that are perfect for pairing with food, and perfect for drinking on their own. Ciders that raise the bar. In short, ciders to get excited about.
We're pairing these incredible ciders with Picnic's whole hog barbecue - pasture-raised in Durham and smoked over wood - and a full spread of our favorite sides. It's a perfect combination you won't want to miss.
Tickets are $26 in advance, $32 day-of, for 2 pours and a plate. A la carte options will be available, so come to eat, come to drink, or come to do both - we'll see you there!
Every Monday night, starting at 8:30pm, Black Twig Cider House and our sister restaurant, Mattie B's Public House, host the best Monday Night in town. Trivia consists of 4 rounds of five questions each, one of which is a theme round (theme announced the previous week), and even a tiebreaker round if necessary. The winning team gets $40 off their bar tab!!
Not great at trivia, but still love to play? Not to worry - the best team name and best wrong answer of the night will both win some random crap like a pint glass, t-shirt, or a gift certificate. There may even be a few rounds of txotx-ing thrown in for good measure!
At Mattie B's, your host is a guy named John, who also writes the questions. He guarantees that all answers are as correct as a few minutes of Googling from his couch can confirm. At Black Twig, your host is a guy named Sam. He makes no guarantees, and will probably suggest that you address any trivial complaints to John.

Cider Cocktail Tasting with Alley 26's Shannon Healy and Rob Mariani, Mattie Beason of Black Twig Cider House, and Local Distillers.
Alley Twenty Six and cider expert extraordinaire Mattie B. will be doing a series of cider cocktail tastings on Saturdays throughout the summer starting Saturday, May 20th. Featuring cocktails using a combination of different ciders and liquors from various North Carolina distilleries, prepare to learn about these delicious products and new ways to concoct summer cocktails for your friends at home.

Txotxfest, Black Twig Cider House's ANNUAL Cider Festival, IS BACK!
Hard Cider is made all over the world. In carrying on the celebration of this delicious apple beverage, it is our hope to showcase local cidermakers and restaurants, and to offer you an opportunity to taste cider from across the country and around the world.
This year, Txotxfest will be the culminating event for the First Annual CiderWeekNC! Put on by the NC Cider Association, CiderWeekNC will run from Friday, November 10 through Saturday, November 18 and will feature events at locations across the state. We at Black Twig Cider House & Mattie B's Public House, longstanding fans of cider ourselves, are thrilled at this opportunity to further share our enthusiasm for cider with our fellow North Carolinians. Along with the help of fantastic cidermakers (from NC and beyond!), spectacular vendors, chefs, and culinary artisans, we are making this Txotxfest one for the books!

Friday, November 17th we have organized a small cider pairing dinner with Steven Goff of Brinehaus. We will be offering a 5 course dinner with 5 fantastic cider pairings for only $50! We want you to know what cider and food can be together.
